Islam, Judaism and Christianinty are three of the world's majorly followed religions. These are also called Abrahamic religions as their respective founders can trace their legacy to Prophet Abraham(pbuh).
Abraham had two sons Ismael and Isaac. Arabs and Prophet Mohammad are said to be desedents of Prophet Ismael whereas Jews and christians have their roots from from Isaac through their founding Prophets Mosses and Jesus respectively. Quran and Bible the Holy books of Muslims and Christians respectively confirm and renarrate the stories and ideals of Torah the book of Jews, thus pointing to the common origin of all the three faiths.
Basic structure and concepts of all the three are very similar to each other yet on a few issues they also have serious diffrences in concepts as well as beliefs. They all agree that their is one all powerful God who can't be workshipped in the form of Idols. Almighty created the Universe and all its beings and at last he created his greatest creation the Humans. To humans he gave a unique feature called free will i.e they have the capacity to take decisions when put to a situation by the God. Adam and Eve were the first Humans who were expelled from heaven for the sin of eating a fruit which was forbidden for them. They were sent to earth where they bore children and thus we all are their desedents. From that time onwards God from time to time sent Messengers and Prophets to convey his message of riteousness and virtues.
Lets now discuss certain concepts in which these three great religions have major differences.
Concept of God- Islam and Judaism believe that their is one all powerful god who can't be workshipped in any form. Christians too are monoethiests but they belive that God exists in three forms Father, Son ( Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. This concept however is rejected by Adoptionists, Arians, Ebionites, some Gnostics, Marcionites and others and others in the early part of christian history.
Original Sin- It is a belief of Christians that fall of Adam and Eve due to the Sin committed by them by eating the forbidden fruit is an Original sin and it is now a part of human race and thus they are sinful by nature and birth. Judaism and Islam do not share this belief. According to Islam all humans are born innocents and they are capable of taking correct decision when God puts them in a situation and thus can remain Sin free.
Status of Jesus and his death on cross- Jews don't believe that Jesus is a messenger of God even and he was crusified for proclaiming that he was the Massiah. Muslims regard Jesus highly and believe that he is a messenger of God and the god almighty rescued Jesus from being crusified by raising him to heaven. Christians claim that Jesus christ is the son of the god and a part of trinity and thus he can be workshipped. They believe that he was crusified and three days later he came back from death and after that he was raised to heaven.
Sacrifice of his son by Abraham- Christians and Jews believe that Abraham had tried to sacrifise his son Isaac whereas muslims believe that that son was Ismael. Muslims celebrate their second most important festival, Eid Al Adha to mark this day.
Each others faiths- Muslims respect and regard Jews and Christians as brothers of book. however, they say that since the teachings of these religions and their books are corrupted and changed now, all humans must now believe in Islam as a fresh and unchanged faith. Jews dont find Islam and Christians as true faiths whereas cHristians regard Judaism as a true faith but not Islam.
Thus we can say that these three religions inspite of having common roots and sources, have a lot of differences in their basic ideology.
